Piso WiFi Pause Time

Adequate and affordable internet access is one of the key issues in most regions of the world. This is the case with the Philippines wherein a solution that is also unique has gained traction called Piso WiFi. This pay-per-use WiFi has turned out to be a new cheap mode in which people will have the right to embrace internet usage on-demand. One of the most popular and notable features of it is called Piso WiFi Pause Time. What, however, does it mean, and how does it happen?

In the current Blog, we will go through the idea of Piso WiFi, take a closer look at what Pause Time is, how it works, and how it benefits both the users and the operators.

What is Piso WiFi: A Genesis

Pause Time is a great unit to explore, but first, it should be known what Piso WiFi is.

Piso is a local currency of the Philippines hence the Filipino equivalent of the term one peso. Piso WiFi can be defined as an automated machine that provides WiFi services in coins or digital payment at a cost of 1 peso usually given a few minutes of net surfing. The systems are normally located in public places like in sari-sari stores (tiny sale shops), bus terminals, laundromats, and schools.

Piso WiFi systems typically use Raspberry Pi computers or off-the-shelf routers and use specially designed firmware, the most common being ADoPiSoft. Customers log in, have the connection redirected to a login site, they insert coins (or scan the QR-Codes in case of online payments), and they use internet time until they run out of time.

What is Piso WiFi Pause Time?

Most Piso WiFi systems have a special feature called Pause Time, which enables the user to temporarily suspend his or her internet session and save the same for later without wasting the remaining time on which he or she paid.

This can be simply put in this way:

Consider that in a Piso WiFi machine you have a 2 peso coin, you insert it in the system and you get 1 hour internet. Once you have used it for 20 minutes, then you must take a break. You are not going to lose the time left which is 40 minutes anymore, you can always use the Pause button in the user portal and by doing so, you can literally stop the clock. By the time you come back, you log-in and click Resume and your 40 minutes resume.

The aspect enables the user to have greater internet time and money control.

What is the Technical Process of Pause Time?

Pause Time is a session management plus a device authentication under the hood.

This is how it works as follows:

Session ID Tracking:

After the user logs into their sessions, the system will create a session ID and attach it to the user MAC address or IP (Media Access Control) of his or her device.

Database of Times:

The Piso WiFi software records the time left in the database. In case the user presses a pause, time will be noted down and the countdown will freeze.

Resume Function:

After successful reconnection/authentication of the same device through MAC address, the system authenticates and pulls the session, resuming where it was previously done in the database.

Expiration Rules:

In other systems, the maximum time a paused session may be idle (before it becomes invalid) is bounded (e.g., 24 hours). Thereafter, any left time will be lost.

Pause Time on Piso WiFi How to Use

The operation of Pause Time feature is simple and easy to use in most cases. This is how it goes:

On your phone connect to Piso WiFi Network:

You can connect to the WiFi network via your phone, tablet or laptop (e.g. PisoWiFi_1234).

Open the Login Portal and log in:

Normally, there will be a login page that appears automatically. Otherwise, start a browser and type in 10.0.0.1 (this is the base IP of many Piso WiFi systems).

Insert a coin or pay with a QR code:

Decide how much of your time you would like to go on, pay that amount of money and the internet session will commence.

Click Pause:

In case you like to stop, open the same portal and press the button of pause.

Resume Later:

After you are ready to access the internet once again, re-connect to the net by clicking on resuming. The rest of your time will go on.
